Formula 2’s first session at the new Jeddah Corniche Circuit on the coast of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia has been delayed indefinitely and until further notice.
“Operational delays” is said to be the culprit that may have disastrous knock-on effects for Formula 1’s Friday timetable and its tight broadcasting schedule.
Saudi Arabia’s inaugural Grand Prix circuit was only offically inspected, signed off and awarded its Grade A licence yesterday.
However the state of the circuit doesn’t seem to be the issue at play as the Porsche Supercup already completed its first session of the weekend successfully.
The drivers sat patiently waiting in the pit lane for over half an hour.
Update: The session will start at 14:35 local time, meaning the session was provisionally delayed by 50 minutes in total.
